Step 1
Create a profile with depth
Five short steps. Around eight minutes. Everything we ask is there to make you relatable — not to rank you.
Private by design
Your full name, phone, email and date of birth are never shown — so nobody can spam-call you. Others see two letters of your name (“John” becomes “Jo”) and your age.
Background
Hometown, career, education, languages (up to six), kids, and anything you want to disclose. No caste. No income column. No dowry.
Important details
Marital status — Never married, Separated, Awaiting divorce, Divorced, Widowed. Ideal marriage timeline — within 6 months to 3+ years, or “when it feels right”. Religion and belief, height, diet, drinking, smoking, exercise, politics, reading.

Photos, checked — and a Selfie Booth
Every photo is scanned on your phone for a visible face. The Smiling Selfie Booth is live, unfiltered, no catfish. Photo tips
Verify for the blue tick
A live selfie making an “O” sign, reviewed by a human against your photos. Takes two minutes and is the strongest trust signal on Otterly. How verification works
Step 2
Explore with three gestures
Profiles near you, sorted by completeness and activity, filtered by what matters to you. Then, instead of a swipe:
- Tap anything to send a requestA prompt, a photo, a chip that says “Widowed” or “Wants kids”. A note box appears: type a sweet note and send.
- Swipe up to passNo judgement, no “left”. The profile simply moves on.
- Pull down to undoChanged your mind? Bring the last profile back.
Free members get a daily budget of requests that resets at midnight. It sounds like a limit. It is actually a filter: everyone you hear from chose you on purpose.
Step 3
Read your requests like letters, not notifications
Every request arrives with the note attached and the part of your profile they tapped. You see why someone is interested before you decide.
- Accept to match and open chatFree members have a daily accept budget too — so acceptances mean something.
- Decline quietlyNo notification is sent. Nobody is embarrassed.
- Pearls jump the queueIf you really want to be seen, a Pearl pins your request to the very top of someone’s inbox.
Step 4
Talk like adults, with help when you want it
The first message is the hardest. So we built tools for exactly that moment.
Olly icebreakers
Pick one of 14 two-player games — This or That, Would You Rather, Red Flag / Green Flag, Dealbreaker Dash, Vedic Kundali — and let the answers do the talking.
Ask Olly
Get an AI compatibility read on any match: a score, a verdict and a few honest observations to talk about.
Screened conversations
Messages are screened for harassment, sexual pressure, scam patterns and “move to WhatsApp” pushes. Report or block in two taps; unmatch with a reason.
Step 5
Meet. Decide. Delete us.
When the conversation is real, take it offline — a public place, a daytime coffee, a friend who knows where you are. If it becomes something, delete Otterly and start your next chapter.
Marry someone you met on Otterly and we refund 100% of your Premium. Invite us to the wedding; we might sponsor it. Our success is measured in people who leave.

FAQ
Questions about how Otterly works
How many requests can I send per day on Otterly?
Free members receive a daily budget of requests that resets after 11:59 pm. The exact number varies by gender balance in your area and is shown in the app. Premium members have effectively unlimited requests and accepts.
What is the difference between a request and a like?
A like is a reflex; a request is a decision. On Otterly you tap a specific part of a profile — a prompt answer, a photo, a value — and attach a short note. The receiver sees exactly what caught your eye and why. It is impossible to “mass request”, which is the point.
Do I have to swipe at all?
Only to pass. Swipe up to skip a profile; pull down to undo if you change your mind. There is no swipe-right. To express interest you always send a request with a note.
How do matches happen?
When someone accepts your request (or you accept theirs), a match is created and chat opens. Requests you receive sit in your Requests tab with the note attached, so you can decide thoughtfully rather than in a split second.
Why does profile completion matter?
Otterly shows complete profiles first and unlocks features as completion rises. Under a minimum threshold your profile is not shown in Explore at all. A complete profile signals serious intent — to us and to the people you want to meet.
Can I see who I sent requests to?
Premium members can view, edit and delete their sent requests, and their requests are sorted to the top of the receiver’s inbox. Free members can see their sent requests but cannot edit them.
What happens after I match?
Chat, in the app. Use an Olly icebreaker game if the first message feels hard, ask Olly for a compatibility read, and — when it feels right — meet in a public place. If it works out, delete Otterly. That is the goal.
